Son of Abish

We took Chittiyaan Kalaayiyaan, (a song where a girl is saying “buy me things because I have fair wrists???” ) to call out the industry in it’s most beloved format - song and dance.
This was a takedown of the various double standards in the film industry, everything from pay gaps, objectification, to outspoken women get labeled "difficult" or "diva."
The song became what they say all too frequently in advertising:
“a cultural moment”, because while some things were industry specific, many others are simply sexism women face across workspaces.
The coverage was entirely organic and in not just in Indian media, but also international media like PBS and NowThis.
A shoutout to Anushka Sharma’s Film Companion interview which gave us a lot of insights into the industry.
Please note: This was Kangana before her “gutter generation” era.
